I agree with the idea about journal entries making terrible essays, but this rises above and held my interest. Why? Because you pulled in multiple references, history/philosophical, etc., injected humor, and made the story about more than one person’s search for meaning. And trust me, I’m the queen of writing about one person’s search for meaning. Well done. And on a personal note, allow this old gal to encourage you. You are on your path. Stick to it. Keep visioning. Keep writing. Listen to your inner voice. You got this.

I don’t know about journal entries - it all can be crafted, and come straight from the edict of “write what you know” - then again perhaps I’m just a voyeur enjoying these glimpses grounded in a lived reality, seeing things through a vicarious life. Whatever the case, I’m still reading ( and enjoying)

I don’t know where to draw the line still. But ultimately we are free to write whatever we want. If no one reads it or relates, so be it. Of course it’s much nicer when people do get something out of it. Xx, Sylvie
