A Divine feminine resonance...

What you’ve gathered here isn’t a list of beautiful women ... it’s a litany of women who embodied the divine feminine without trying. Mystery, ease, intelligence, sensuality that isn’t for show. Women who were whole unto themselves. That’s the kind of beauty that teaches you something.

Hi Steve!

Yes!!!

I love that take! Though some of these women died young or experienced a lot of tragedy.

I was truly just going after “my” kind of beauty, which is more of a vibe:an aura and comes from within as much as from the surface. I think I need to read more about the divine feminine. Forgive me for not being super clear right now with what I’m trying to say. It’s 3:30 AM in Germany. 🥱

You are describing my wife, Gere Fennelly. If she wasn’t a renowned pianist she’d have been a fashion icon. She dresses every day and other women compliment her constantly. She might dress for me once or twice a year.

Fabulous. I’m going to have to look her up!!

I believe women as a gender carry an inherent beauty. It is evidenced by that list you compiled plus intelligence, prescence, elegance, earthiness, lack of f's given by the "male gaze" and a certain humor and warmth, nurturing quality, as well as the ability to mold ourselves into situations by shape shifting an inner ability that adapts us to the moment. I enjoyed this very much. Love, Virg

I studied your list thoroughly to try to find elements of myself in these women. I feel like I used to do this when I was younger - compile lists of women I admired. This article brought me back to that version of me, the one who just wanted to be herself. Thank you.

Same! I did this type of thing when I was younger and not since. Not for a looong time. But I’m currently redefining myself and so I think that’s why I felt the need for this one. Xx, S

Redefining yourself - i love this. What other rituals does this entail?

20th Century Fox's avatar

Very good question and I don’t know the answer yet. I have just started. I think I need to write about it in order to find clarity. But I love the idea of rituals and coming up with new ones. I used to have so many and now I’m like a leave in the wind. xx S

I’m also a leaf. Not a bad place to be! I’d love to hear about your new rituals once you’ve working out. Perhaps a future post?

Perhaps! If I come up with something useful 💋💋

I agree with your list of gorgeous women. Yes, I dress for women!

20th Century Fox's avatar

Thank you for reading this long piece. 💋💋 Yes, I absolutely dress for other women too. First for myself, of course. But definitely not for men.

delightful piece. several of my crushes made the list … agree with your definition of attractiveness

20th Century Fox's avatar

Oh which ones? Do tell! I had many more but had to cut at some point. Forgot some major ones. Eek. Sophia Loren, Raquel Welsh, Marianne Faithfull, Deneuve, Ursula Andress…

Hepburn and Deneuve immediately came to mind for different reasons. (lists are always difficult)

Those two for sure. Yes, lists are notoriously difficult, but I’m a compulsive list maker. Helps when I have insomnia. 💤💋🥱

One other addition. (And since you are European she may not be a surprise, but Lena Olin. Ever since Unbearable Lightness.

Absolutely. Very good pick. That was a formative movie and book. I even named my son Milan.
